Kent: The UK's Gateway for Logistics and Warehouse Work

Kent handles a significant proportion of the UK's international freight. The Port of Dover and the Channel Tunnel together process millions of tonnes of goods annually, creating a massive logistics ecosystem that employs thousands of workers across the county.

    Why Kent?

    • Port of Dover — handles up to 10,000 lorries per day at peak times. Europe's busiest ferry port
    • Channel Tunnel — Eurotunnel carries significant freight volume between Folkestone and Calais
    • Strategic location — gateway between continental Europe and the rest of the UK
    • M20/M2/A2 corridors — major road links connecting Kent to London and the Midlands

    Major Distribution Areas

    Dartford and Thurrock

The Dartford Crossing area is a massive distribution hub. Amazon, Ocado, Sainsbury's, and multiple third-party logistics providers have major facilities here. Demand for operatives, drivers, and forklift operators is consistently high.

    Aylesford and Maidstone

Central Kent's industrial heartland, with warehousing, manufacturing, and food processing. A good mix of agency and permanent roles.

    Ashford

Eurostar's domestic station has driven commercial development, with logistics parks and distribution centres growing around the town.

    Cross-Docking and Transhipment

Kent's unique position means many warehouses operate as cross-dock facilities — goods arrive from Europe, are sorted, and are despatched to UK destinations within hours. This creates fast-paced roles that suit workers who enjoy variety and physical activity.

    Pay Rates

Kent benefits from proximity to London without full London living costs:

    • Warehouse operatives: £11.50-13.50/hr (higher than national average due to London proximity)
    • Forklift operators: £13-16/hr
    • HGV Class 1: £16-20/hr agency, particularly for port work and European trunking
    • HGV Class 2: £13-17/hr agency

Our Kent branch has deep relationships with logistics operators across the county. Whether you are looking for warehouse, driving, or industrial work, we can connect you with opportunities that match your skills and location.
